With a new year on the horizon, we welcome the freshness of colors like honeycomb, lilac, zesty curry lime, olive-yellow, dark navy, cherry and maple into our interiors. Greens and colors that compliment the color most often found in nature, are reflective of the 2022 Colors of the Year from Behr, Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, and PPG.


Breezeway, is found within the BEHR® Color Trends 2022 Palette. The 20-color collection consists of soothing shades and warmer tones including the timelessness of Whisper White HDC-MD-08, and the bold terracotta red of Perfect Penny S180-6. Alongside Breezeway, the palette’s 20 colors inspire us to enter the new year on a hopeful note, while still centering the home as an ultimate oasis.

A key color trend to note is the rise of lilac in our living spaces. As a gentle, welcoming hue, lilac will be a trending color over the next year in interiors.


Don't let that focus on green and purple convince you the most popular neutral is "over." Neutral colors will take over living rooms in 2022, like Sherwin-Williams' White Flour and Benjamin Moore's Swiss Coffee—at least in certain multifunctional rooms. With so many people working from home, many former single-use living rooms have been transformed into part-time or transitional work spaces during the day; therefore, living room colors will continue to veer neutral, as they create a sense of light and clarity while encouraging functionality. Many of us are still spending more time at home, and our spaces should create a sense of calm, while still letting the sense and beauty of nature - biophilic design - lead our design decisions.

BLACK: Nothing says drama like bringing matte black into a livingroom, especially those that have loads of natural light to help brighten an otherwise overwhelmingly dark environment. You may want to consider a deep, dark accent wall and carry the color into adjoining rooms with the use of fixtures or accent pieces.
